japan day 12

today we took an hour bus ride to tokyo and then a 2 hour flight to nagasaki...we had to take a bus to our gate and walk onto the plane. that was a first for some of them.

then after we got to nagasaki we had about an hour drive into sasebo.

we are staying downtown at the chisun grand hotel, because the base housing was all full.

but we don't care because this hotel is very nice! the rooms have crazy tables with radios and lighting controls in them. a pants press. the tv stand is a mini fridge (only english channel is mtv...but it is even japanese...so only american videos are english) and the bathroom has auto defrost mirrors and crazy heated seat bidet toilets. and the vending machines in here that sell beer. and the best part- we can see green mountains from our 7th floor window.

we walked around saesbo today and found this huge covered shopping area. it was like a mile long street with tons of shops and restaurants.

today is our first day off and we are excited to explore. more blogs to come.

JAPAN DAY 11

today was one long day.
sound check was at 10:30am.
the weather was perfect- in the 70's with a nice breeze.
the outdoor show at friendship day was from 3-5pm.

we had an impromptu graduation ceremony for kyle during the show- since his high school graduation was supposed to be this weekend-but he is missing it to be here in japan. we made him a graduation cap out of foil and a tassel out of caution tape from the stage and a diploma from a piece of rolled up paper. it was pretty rad.

we went to dinner and mandy and missy tried to concur the 6 pound summo burger...but it dominated them in the end...too bad- they would have gotten the $24 burger for free, their picture on the wall and a killer t-shirt.

my hats of to them though- for trying.

tomorrow we have a 8am lobby call- a 2 hour bus ride back to tokyo- then a 1.5 hour flight to sasebo navy base.

...but the good news is we get the day off tomorrow after we are done traveling around 1:30pm and then we get monday off! our first day off- and a much needed one at that! we can't wait to relax and see the sights.

JAPAN DAY 10

today we arrived in atsugi around 2pm after a 2 hour bus ride and got a little tour of atsugi naval base.

the base is awesome. everything is really close and we can walk to everything.

the officers quarters where we are staying are super nice! full kitchens and living rooms.

joel finally got the 'monster' watch he has been looking at for months at the navy exchange store...

there is a harley dealer on base- but they don't sell t-shirts...sorry parents. we did pass some other stores on the way into town and will try to get into one before we leave.

the show tonight at the trilogy club went well. it was a cute little country bar and the crowd was having fun.

tomorrow we are headlining the friendship day festival. it is an outdoor festival that is open to the public so its should be a good time. the show is at 3pm so we are hoping to see some cool sites tomorrow night!
